I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" the American and "break" his opponent as the pair met personally to build hype for the upcoming boxing match.

Ex two-time unified boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I will injure his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - typically known for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul rather targeted former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Fighter

Despite declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he said.

Paul's Background

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily fought MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's biggest financial successes, consistently making massive paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old predicted a KO victory in round four or five and stated he would stop the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul said.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the customary confrontation, with their physical disparity evident, it emphasized just how unlikely this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the match is actually proceeding.
