Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Police reported they were notified by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident made him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
